Sauti ya Haki Tanzania - SHTZ
Sauti ya Haki Tanzania (SHTZ) is a Kiswahili acronomy for a Voice of Equity Tanzania. SHTZ is a non government, non profit making organization not affliated to any political party. The Organization has been registered under the the Tanzanian laws. Its headquarters are located at at Nduli Ward within Iringa Region.
SHTZ was established on 20th May, 2014 as a non making profit Company known as Sauti ya Mwanamke Tanzania Co. Ltd registered under Companies Act but year 2016 was registered under the NGO Act and renamed as Sauti ya Haki Tanzania as non profit making and non government organization on 16th May, 2016
Broad Objectives
The Organization’s main objective is to advocate for women and children rights in the Country in order to curb harmful practices that hinder fully realization of vulnerable people’s rights in particular women and children rights in the society and nation at large.
The Organization in enhancing the full realization of women and children rights conducts various programs including but not limited to Capacity Building on Human Rights in particular to Women, Youth and Children Rights, Conduct National and International Human Rights Campaigns, Conduct Campaigns on Gender Based Violence, Gender Equality, Legal and Human Rights education, Provision of Services to Needy people, Election Monitoring, Establishment of Women, Youth and Children Rights Clubs in Schools and Universities, establishment of Press Clubs on Women and Children Rights, Environmental Protection, Scholarships to Women and Girls, Legal Aid Provision, Healthy Women Rights Programs, Entrepreneurship Programs and Economic Empowerments Programs.
Specific Objectives
- Promote, respect and observance of human rights and democracy.
- Promote, respect and observance of rule of law and due process.
- Promote and protect women and children rights.
- Create networks with public interest and human rights organization, non-governmental organizations, universities, relevant research institutions, religious association and legal association’s societies.
- Promote public awareness in the field of environmental protection, gender and climate change.
- Provide on request consultancy services to government and non government organizations provided it is within the spirit of society social and educational objects of SHTZ.
- Organize and sponsor conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings and such other undertakings with a view to promoting the social and educational objectives of the SHTZ.
- Raise funds for the purposes of the SHTZ on such terms as are compatible with the autonomy of the SHTZ and within the spirit of its social and educational objects.
- Publish articles and various publications on legal education society and human rights.
PROVIDED that, the objectives of SHTZ shall not extend to putting up or supporting candidates for government or local authority elections which would make it a Political Party within the meaning of a political party as stipulated in the Political Parties Act, 1992.
